BRIEF
Landor Next Gen 2024

Challenge

Since rebranding to “,” the platform has faced confusion, disconnection, and a fading sense of identity.
The beloved bluebird is gone, replaced by a stark black-and-white “” that feels cold and ambiguous.
Despite ambitions of becoming a super app, core features remain unchanged, making the rebrand feel superficial.
Even now, traces of “Twitter blue” linger, signalling an unfinished transition.
Caught between past and future, the platform sits in identity limbo: no longer Twitter, but not quite something new.

Insight

Twitter was never just a product — it was a language, a culture, a feeling.
From “tweets” to the bluebird, every detail fostered a casual, expressive connection.
Today’s users seek platforms with a clear purpose — useful yet emotionally resonant.
Asia’s super apps like KakaoTalk and WeChat show that chat-first ecosystems cultivate stronger habits and more personal engagement than one-way, broadcast-style networks.

Solution

Reintroduce the bluebird, but evolved.
Enter Chirp: a chat-first super app that revives Twitter’s spirit while meeting today’s expectations.

The identity blends familiarity with freshness:
  • A speech bubble-meets-bird logo signals conversational intent
  • A soft blue gradient bridges nostalgia and innovation
  • Glassmorphism UI adds clarity, depth, and optimism
  • Gen Z-native features: group gifting, social fundraising, gamified content tools

Chirp isn’t just a rebrand. It’s a reimagining — bringing users back to what they loved, while taking them somewhere new.

Design notes

A blue gradient palette — anchored in Twitter’s iconic hue — reflects continuity while signalling Chirp’s broader service range.
The logo merges Twitter’s bird with a speech bubble, reinforcing a unified identity even in subtle details.
Subtle textures and a glassmorphic UI introduce warmth and dimensionality, balancing clarity with emotional depth.
