This breif was about the transition between two opposing words(smooth and rough) My video focuses on objects that embody both smooth and rough characteristics. For example, pineapples and avocado have rough exteriors but smooth interiors. I thought if I use such objects then I could facilitate an easy and effective transition between the kewords.
Process
Using Logic Pro’s Alchemy synthesiser, I made four patches for ‘very smooth’, ‘smooth’, ‘rough’, and ‘very rough’. These were saved in the Perform tab, allowing me to create an automation curve (the green line seen on the bottom left screenshot) dynamically adjusting the synthesiser parameters to correspond with the textures in the video. For instance, if a rough scene appeared, moving the control towards ‘very rough’ on the right gradually intensified the roughness of the sound. Conversely, moving the control to the left made the sound progressively smoother in a smooth scene. I also created an automation curve for the Bitcrusher effect, downsampling the synthesiser to correspond with the mosaic effect. This gives the sound a retro, lo-fi digital quality that mirrors that of the mosaic effect. I also adjusted the timing and volume of other instruments while watching the video, fine-tuning them to ensure that the sound matched the video perfectly.
